Banda El Recodo Banks Its 20th No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay Chart With ‘Solo Tú’

Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga celebrates its first No. 1 of 2026 as “Solo Tú” advances from No. 4 to lead Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart (dated Jan. 24). A cover of Camilo Sesto’s song — which first appeared on the Spaniard’s 1976 album, Memorias — the new banda version earns El Recodo its 20th champ on the chart.

“Solo Tú,” released Oct. 31 on El Recodo/FONO/UMLE, marks FONO’s second champ of 2026. The regional Mexican label replaces itself at No. 1, as another reimagined track, “Una Noche Contigo” by La Arrolladora Banda El Limón and Juanes, slips 1-3 following a 12% decline in impressions.

Achieving the title of Greatest Gainer for the week, “Solo Tú” ascends to No. 1 with a 39% surge in audience impressions, to 7.2 million, during the tracking week ending Jan. 15, according to Luminate. This milestone earns El Recodo its 20th No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart. Here is a summary of the acts with the most No. 1 since the chart’s inception in 1994:

Artist, No. 1s

  • Calibre 50, 27
  • Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga, 22
  • Intocable, 21
  • La Arrolladora Banda el Limón de René Camacho, 21
  • Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga, 20
  • Los Tigres del Norte, 18
  • Christian Nodal, 17

“Solo Tú” becomes the second song with the same title to reach the top of the chart, after Calibre 50’s five-week chart-topper in 2020 (not a Sesto cover).

“Solo Tú” is part of El Recodo’s forthcoming set, Madre de Todas Las Bandas, which does not yet have a release date.
